    Desalination Plants

In regions characterized by a shortage of water and a growing population, desalination has become a widespread solution and a highly competitive market. Desalination plants are expected to increase water output, while decreasing costs, without compromising on water quality. Seawater, brackish water, and industrial facility desalination all require constant monitoring and analysis to make informed decisions in real time.

The Viamaris RO facility - AI based Optimization

    Picture1

    Background

The Viamaris (Palmachim) seawater desalination plant has a total annual capacity of 72 MGD.The facility is one of the largest SWRO desalination plants in Israel and worldwide.

    Main Features

The iGreen optimization module ensures the required capacity is met with zero quality exceptions by effectively synchronizing various process units, prioritizing the most efficient ones, and adjusting to energy rates based on the time of day. By overseeing critical variables like chemical dosing, it significantly reduces energy costs. The platform calculates the energy cost for each unit, determining the overall consumption and optimizing production accordingly, leading to meaningful savings.

    Testimonial

“Since implementing the iGreen optimization module, we’ve achieved over a 2% reduction in our energy costs, all while maintaining our production levels without compromise. The module has proven to be an invaluable tool in optimizing our operations and driving significant cost savings.”

Matan Adato, VP of Operation Viamaris.

    Carlsbad Desalination Plant, California, US

    Background

Established in 2015, the Carlsbad Desalination Plant is the largest and most technologically advanced and energy-efficient seawater desalination plant in the US. Each day, the plant delivers nearly 50 million gallons of fresh, desalinated water to San Diego County. The Carlsbad Desalination Plant has made a tremendous impact on the industry’s approach toward SWRO plants.

    Main Features

The iGreen system was deployed before the completion of the test phase and helped the facility to become operational, comply with regulatory demands, and tighten up the margins of energy usage and chemical dosing. From maintenance to process, and from periodic reports to online dashboards and event management, the system supports all levels of equipment supervision and provides more than 100 outputs for various uses.

    Testimonial

“Having to coordinate between lean management and high efficiency with large amounts of regulatory reporting and the high sensitivity of operations to energy and chemical variations, the iGreen system is an important tool for achieving the successful establishment and stabilization of the facility to operate in an efficient mode.”

    Sorek Desalination Plant

    Sorek Desalination Plant

    Background

Commissioned during 2013, the Sorek Desalination plant near Tel Aviv, Israel, is among the largest SWRO facilities in the world. The plant’s capacity is 624,000 cubic meters per day, and its unique design of vertical skid structures and cutting-edge technology pushes the plant towards data-driven operations, and orientation toward continuous improvement.

    IOSight’s iGreen system

The iGreen system’s holistic approach and its algorithm builder meshes perfectly with the plant’s approach of managing through information and early fault detection.

Control Center for Monitoring Multiple SWRO Facilities

Israel produces 75% of its drinking water from desalinated sea water and is considered a world leader in the field. With five huge BOT facilities, the government arm responsible for designing, inspecting and collecting the desalinated water is utilizing iGreen to keep a close watch on the plants’ operations while assuring water volumes and quality.
